Coco Luxe Confections at 1673 Haight is getting a makeover for the spring.
You may have noticed that the interior of Coco Luxe has been gradually morphing: the back of the shop has been opened up and the bar has been extended, it had a new paint job, the tables, chairs, and lighting have all been updated, and generally the place seems a whole lot swankier. That’s because the shop will undergo some rebranding this month, and open in “early April” as a wine tasting bar and coffee house called Stanza. Don’t panic, chocolate will still be on the menu.
While they’ll still serve coffee bar drinks and chocolate, the main thrust for the space going forward will be the wine. Stanza will be a wine-tasting bar, not unlike those found in Napa and Sonoma, and you’ll be able to order flights, wine by the glass, bottles to go, or some combination thereof, if you’re feeling dangerous. The wine hails from a small boutique winery in Sonoma called MJ Lords, and will feature varietals from Napa, Sonoma and the Russian River Valley. Wine from owners Mark Bright and Kristopher Esqueda’s Markris Wine Group will also be sold.
To start, they’ll offer 3 different pinot noirs, 2 sauvignon blancs, carmenere, sangiovese, viognier, chardonnay, syrah and a montepulciano ranging from $8-13 per glass. They’ve also created a new line of wines just for Stanza called “Love | Haight” that will have a sauvignon blanc, a syrah and cabernet sauvingon, which will run you about $6-8 per glass. They’ll add more as Stanza finds its groove.
They tell us they plan to do a proper opening launch, and they’ll offer free cappuccino to neighborhood folks, like yourselves. We’ll let you know!
