Sami was born in 1925 to founded the Red Vic in 1977 when she bought what was then The Jefferson Hotel and painted it red – “the color of love and passion“. She wanted the space to embody the ideals of the 60s – and in many ways, it’s one of the last places on the street that feels authentically summer of love. She had a Ph.d in Transformational Art and Societal Change, which she used to found the Peaceful World Foundation, the Peaceful World Center, the Peaceful World Café, the Living Peace Museum and the Peace Arts Gallery.
The Red Vic was her permanent residence and her life’s work. She was 88 years old when she died.
